Hahaha... There's no way Doom3 would be playable on ANY mini, 64MB VRAM or no... It only just runs at 1024x768 on my Pentium M with a mobility Radeon 9700 128MB, I get about 3 FPS at 640x480 on my other notebook with a Radeon XPRESS 200 with 128MB assigned (which benches much faster than a 9000/9200) and the Mac port is slower than the Winblows version at the moment (hope they sort that out in future patches. A G5 with a 7800GTX would b*tch running Doom 3 compared to equivalent wintel machines if they got it right - as the Quake 3 port did on G4s once they sorted out Altivec support (though I still don't think MacOS X's OpenGL layer & drivers are as fast as Windows equivalents :( )

To be honest, whether you've got 64MB of VRAM or no, the Radeon 9200 isn't a gaming chip any more. The only thing having double the VRAM is likely to benefit is running big monitors and keeping quartz smooth-ish. (which is why I don't worry about the new models - I've already clocked my 1.25 up to 1.58GHz and I only use a 1280x1024 panel). Anyway, the specs on the website clearly state that the mini has 32MB. They wouldn't except the return, because it's the users fault for not checking the specs of the computer before buying it.

I suspect the only reason they've been putting 64MB is that the lower density chips are getting hard to get hold of and possibly more expensive (same with the faster G4s) - I'm not so sure it's an intentional upgrade.

I suppose the simple solution is to buy a Mac Mini and a
copy of Doom 3 for the Mac (which requires 64M VRAM) at the
same time. If you get the old Mac Mini, send them both back,
saying that the game should run on the computer.
