Yes. Both I (iPod 4th Gen (?) - 40 Gb, the one just before the Photo iPod) and my wife (iPod Mini) have got Dension IceLink kits in our cars.

They're OK. Well, they're better than that actually. Basically they replace the CD changer input into the head unit - we have had CD changers in our cars for some time. So the head unit think it's still a CD changer it's talking to, but in fact the signal is coming from the iPod. You adjust the volumn, and skip forwards & backwards using the head unit controls.

The only fiddly bit is getting it going at thge beginning of a journey. By default, the system starts on the whole library of tunes, in alpha order - so we get the opening 20 seconds of the first song an awful lot! You then have to use the iPod screen to select what you actually want to play, and this can be fiddly because it's mounted in the unit and you can't see it very well. We also find that if we remove it for a short while - ie, while the car is parked because we're shopping - when we re-insert the iPod & switch on the head unit, it'll restart from where it was. But if the gap is longer - say, 24 hours - we're back to starting from scratch.

Also if you continually skip tracks it can take a time to actually start the new track. Sometimes it'll give up and go to the next one, in fact.

So yes, they work. But there are still issues with the interface. We're glad we did it, however - we are more & more using the iPods as our primary music sources.

Has anyone had the iPod car connection kits Halfords are offering at the
moment? There's this Denison one:-

and this Alpine one:-

Will these work with my 2004 Nissan Micra, and does the Alpine unit sound
any good?

Finally, does anyone have a 30 or 60 gig 4th Generation iPod Photo Colour
for sale?
