It depends what you use it for, but generally if you plug more than one thing in it falls over. I found this out to my cost when i tired to use an iSight and a FW Hard Disk at the same time. No harm done but the iSight cut out in the middle of a video chat :(. I put a PCI Firewire card in mine and it seems to be ok now. I only use 1 device on the on-board bus and one on the card.
Yep, my 350Mhz G3 lost Firewire port 1 about a year ago and port 2 stopped working for a few reboots on Tuesday, so I'm half expecting that one to go soon..
