I would be tempted to advise staying with 10.3.9. I changed to 10.4
some time ago and it caused nothing but chaos with trying to print by
AppleTalk. In fact I found I could not print to any printer after
inadvertently deleting all the printers in set up; I could not recreate
them and found I could not set up an alternative IP method either. It
was odd because when I upgraded, rather than replaced, the OS it worked
OK until I deleted the printers and tried to set up again. This is on a
network with two Epson printers with ethernet server cards and one HP
with external server. There may have been a way to sort it but after
spending the best part of four days trying I gave up and installed
10.3.9 again and everything is fine.

I have read that OS X 10.4 has less AppleTalk support which I need to
use to set up the printer to work properly so I was wondering if
anyone is currently using a similar setup under 10.4 as there's no
point in upgrading if I lose the use of my printer.
