Hi, guys, and congratulations for making the Aqua alpha available. I have
been following your activity in the last year, and I am enthusiastic about
what you have been able to achieve.

I would like to make a few points about making the UI more Mac-like, in a
way that is sustainable for this project. Simple cosmetic changes can make a
lot of difference.

1 TABS: Ismael Merzaq showed that the current style in Mac OS X is not
suited to multiple lines of tabs. Since other applications still use it, it
makes perfect sense to stick with the old style. Reducing the number of tabs
would involve decisions at the cross-platform level.

2 ICONS: Given the constraints of developing cross-platform applications,
the Mozilla team have done a tremendous job of making
cross-platform applications like Firefox and Thunderbird look acceptable
on the Mac. Icons have a key role in that and, in order to be accepted by
the Mac community, the mac port has to have a high-quality icon set. Have a
look at these examples:

As you see, tango icons are better than stock icons, but still feel out of
place on OS X. The last set is one I have designed myself trying to approach
OS X style icons while retaining the same objects.

3 PALETTES: I am betting Ismael will soon take care of most glitches. To me
the most annoying are closing button (X) on the right, bevel and lack of
drop shadow.

I am a self-contained web designer and longtime Mac user, and I would be
delighted if I could contribute some graphic work (icons, widgets, etc.) to
the project or whatever you might need (except C++ coding, of course).

All the best,
Mauro
