Maho, thankyou for your reply.

This is an opportunity for me to ask: Maho, do you use the same GSI
files as Pavel for your builds?
No.

I need to know, because I test our translation on my Intel Mac, and
keep updating the file Pavel uses. If your builds only use the file
submitted via the release schedule, they won't show changes as
dynamically as Pavel's builds do.

I'll provide for builds (cws localisation21) l10n TCM tests for Mac Intel X11.
AFAIK, translation issues won't be fixed after this cws is integrated.

Hmm... :S

If you don't use the same files as Pavel, please consider doing so.

No. I'm only interested in vanilla builds...If we mix something into
my build system other than build breaker fixes, it is a hack. I don't want to provide hacked builds. (then, I should add many paches to release builds as well) Providing packages for QA for some cws is nice, as sometimes I'm doing.

I don't think Pavel would build anything that broke the build process.

In my team's case, we use exactly the same location as we submitted
via the release schedule,

This is very good.

but we keep updating it as we add fixes.

Also, this happens.

Only when someone puts in the effort. ;)

Since Pavel builds so often, we get dynamic feedback on our fixes,
and can test them out more effectively.

Right. Dynamic feedback is very important. Unfortunately,
then this is l10n issue, and problem of how GSI files are integrated.
You may ask Ivo (ihi) about it...usually integaration of GSI files are quite slow. and IIRC he said this is a very hard task. How we can cooperate is an issue.

AFAI can tell, achieving any change that involves Sun processes is about as fast as a tortoise with blisters on its feet trying to cross the Sahara desert. Actually, the tortoise would win easily.

I think that's why people have set up their own processes. I'm deeply grateful that our language is not trapped inside the Sun labyrinth.

BTW: my G5 is now becomes slow iMac is also slow. It took 3-4 days to complete
builds. Hope someone can donate faster machines.

:(

I wish I could help. I had to save up for ages to upgrade our desktop to a Mac mini this year. They are a lot cheaper than the top-of-the- line desktop machines, though, and our Mac Mini seems to handle my teenage daughter's graphics-intensive activities quite well. Would a Mac Mini work for builds?

If so, we can ask for donations towards one. :)
