Hello team,
I would like to know your opinion about moving the version number
from the bundle name to the dmg volume name.
This would have the following advantages:
* easier update: I would expect most user to have only a single
version of OOo installed in the Applications directory. If we change
the bunde name to be just "OpenOffice.org", the user will be asked
whether the old version shall be overwritten or the new version
shall be renamed.
* constancy: the only version numbers I have seen from other
products were on folders containing several application bundles, but
none on a bundle itself
* laziness: the DS_Store file containing the folder properties
(icons, background image) doesn't need to get updated for every
release
What do you think ?
+1
Can the Info.plist also have the version number and build number in
it, to make it easier to get?
If it can contain the milestone too for development builds, that would
be builliant.
