Hi,
For each app I did a few Save As ... into a local directory and onto a mounted network volume (since at http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=94333 someone mentions that "It appears that the crash will show up consistently when browsing a network volume for the home directory, but when using local disk, it appears okay." I'm not sure what s/he meant by "for the home directory" but I was able to save onto the desktop of my daughter's iBook G4 in the other room ...

That is the message from my colleague Michael Clark. We save user's home directory on afp server, so that is considered a network volume, and local disk means any physical local hard disks (internal and external). I did lots of tests, and it seems afp on linux is the cause.
Config:
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11
Dual 1.42 GHz PPC G4
1 GB DDR SDRAM

Also, in case this might be relevant (I have no idea, please let me know whether to include the below info in the future, thanks):
java -version
java version "1.5.0_16"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_16-b06-275)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_16-132, mixed mode, sharing)
Our java version is exactly same as yours.

SO>>> I wonder what is the distinction between Jiang's setup and mine?
