FmPro Migrator 2.91 Enterprise Edition
1-10-2005 - Fremont, CA - .com Solutions Inc. Releases FmPro Migrator 2.91 Enterprise Edition - New MacOS X Release Adds Drag and Drop Conversion of Access Database Files to FileMaker 7. New release to be demonstrated at MacWorld Expo booth #749 in San Francisco, January 11 - 14, 2005.

.com Solutions Inc., a developer of multi-platform database migration and development tools, has released FmPro Migrator 2.91 with a new Microsoft Access to FileMaker 7 migration feature for MacOS X.

FmPro Migrator 2.91 now employs a new drag and drop user interface for Access to FileMaker 7 migrations, thus simplifying the migration process. Dropping one ore more Access 97 or Access 2000 database files onto FmPro Migrator instantly reads the metadata from each Access database file and creates the required FileMaker 7 migration scripts.

.com Solutions Inc. will be demonstrating FmPro Migrator at MacWorld booth #749, January 11 - 14th, 2005. FileMaker developers are encouraged to stop by the .com Solutions Inc. booth to have their FileMaker migration questions answered and to see a demo of the new features which have recently been added to FmPro Migrator.

FmPro Migrator standardizes and automates FileMaker database migration procedures including data type matching, field to column renaming, table creation, FileMaker field size determination and data transfer for 8 different database servers. Supported databases include MySQL, Oracle (8, 8i-9i, 10g), Access, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, PostgreSQL and FrontBase.

FmPro Migrator New Features and Improvements include:

-- Access to FileMaker 7 Migration on MacOS X - Access 97 and Access 2000 database files can now be dropped onto FmPro Migrator to start the migration process. FmPro Migrator reads the metadata from each Access database file, then creates the required migration scripts. The resulting migration scripts are instantly generated and written into the user selected output directory. These scripts still need to be run on Windows in order to utilize FileMaker 7 and Access ODBC drivers which are currently only available for Windows.

-- Upsize Microsoft Access to FileMaker 7 - Converting Access to FileMaker 7 enables developers to take advantage of the enhanced performance and capabilities of FileMaker 7. FileMaker 7 databases can handle up to 8TB of data and can include thousands of fields, compared to the 2Gb file size limit and 255 field limit of Microsoft Access.

-- Repeating Fields Extraction Scripts Improved - The previously implemented repeating fields extraction scripts have been improved for database migrations for all supported databases. The primary change has been with the implementation of the primary key determination algorithm.

-- MacOS X and Windows Compatibility - FmPro Migrator runs on MacOS X and Windows, thus enabling developers to use their preferred platform for creating the migration scripts.

FmPro Migrator is available for MacOS X and Windows. A functional demo version of FmPro Migrator may be downloaded from www.fmpromigrator.com/downloads/index.html. For more info please see: www.fmpromigrator.com/products/fmpro_migrator
