Senior Project Manager

The primary project will be the Mobile Device Management Service
Improvement project which has as
its focus the development of a solution to allow iPhones and Android phones
and pad devices secure
connectivity to the network including remote connectivity (VPN).
Other projects to be managed by the person in this position;

Mobile Device Management Service Improvement
As the institution’s dependence upon institutionally owned mobile devices
deepens and the desire to
incorporate personal mobile devices into normal working operations
increases, Information Technology and
Services would like to investigate, design, and implement a mobile device
management system which allows
the support of multiple device platforms, personally and institutionally
owned systems, and the proactive
monitoring of the service to prevent where possible performance issues.

BlackBerry PBX Connectivity
The Mobile Communications Workgroup has expressed an interest in
implementing the ability to allow calls
between institutional BlackBerry’s and institutional telephone numbers,
without the use of fees associated
with traditional cellular technology. This project is to research
technologies such as Research in Motions
Mobile Voice Solution, determine the best product, and implement if
approved.

IT Asset Management and Inventory Reconciliation
The purpose of this project is to implement policies and procedures to
maintain efficient controls of all IT
assets that are leased and owned by the client. The project will consist
of the reconciliation of the current location, type, and condition of IT
assets such as desktop computers,
laptops, network printers, pagers, BlackBerry’s, desktop software, long
distance codes, telephony and
network equipment. During the project, the ability to display by department
what assets are in use by the
department, the monthly cost of the use, and the actual usage of the asset
will be developed and presented
to the institution. The management of these assets will also be put into a
centralized system (e.g. CEMSComputer
Equipment Management System) for a consistent look and feel for the
customer. Finally, policies
around the management of these assets including the individual departments
bearing the cost of lost or
damaged devices will be implemented.

BlackBerry Request Fulfillment Enhancement - Process Improvement
The purpose of this project is to implement an online BlackBerry request
process. The current process has
been in place for several years and currently there are many manual steps
that must be completed in order
to request and receive approval for an institutional BlackBerry. A new and
improved online process will
reduce the number of steps needed by at least 50% by utilizing existing
tools (CEMS/Altiris). The new
process will allow end users to input requests for BlackBerry’s online
using the CEMs tool.
The new process will automatically pre-populate information for the end
user into the system, automatically
launch the approval process, and auto generate a service desk incident in
Altiris. Included below is a link to
the current form.
