A different take:
-- If you follow the market closely and update your 'puter frequently,
  it's probably not worth it to get the extra support.
-- However, if you're one who keeps equipment for a long time, not
  necessarily needing to always have the latest or greatest, then buying
  the extended warranty just might be worth it.
-- Refurb. equipment *may* call for additional consideration & support.
