There are several standard ranges for private networks. The most common
are the class C range 192.168.0.0-192.168.255.255 and the class A range
10.0.0.0-10.255.255.255. Either one is perfectly legal. (There is also
a class B range 172.16.0.0-172.31.255.255, but it's not used as much.)
These are IP numbers that are not officially assigned to any device out
on the Internet.
