It would cost you more than a good used Mac that CAN run OS X. Sorry.

Look around. Used deals abound. I found a used eMac 1 ghz superdrive
model in the want ads while I was in California on vacation this
month and got them to take $200 for it. My mom now has an awesome
computer for less that it cost me to outfit her last iMac g3 that can
hardly do anything. I looked it up in all the online used sources
(even eBay) and it should have gone for somewhere in the $500-600 range.

The people were obviously not Mac people and decided to sell it and
get a PC. I felt so guilty, but my mom needed something BAD, so I did
it. If my guilt gets too bad I might send the lady another $100.

Bottom line: don't throw away your money. Get something newer. If
you're patient you'll find some wonderful surprises. Watch out for
eBay, though. Macs almost ALWAYS go for a decent market price there.

One trick that sometimes can benefit is to find the less than
cosmetically perfects ones. They're not as desirable and can save you
a few bucks. The server in my closet is just such a deal. Looks awful.

But then I never look at it.
