There's probably an easy way to do it, but I don't know of one. Last
summer I helped someone move from Windows to Mac, including AOL mail.
Here's how I did it.

We purchased some software called Message Vault, which runs under
Windows. This will read AOL mailbox files and output into many
different formats, including the standard RFC822. It looks to me like
Transend is similar. ( I was also told that older versions of
Netscape can read AOL mailboxes, but I couldn't get this to work. It
seems this might be true because AOL owned Netscape.)

I hooked her PC up to her new iBook with an Ethernet cable and
started Windows file sharing on the iBook.

The iBook hard drive was mounted on the Windows side , and we dragged
the converted mailboxes across.

We imported the mailboxes into Mail.

There are many different variations on this theme you could use, such
as compressing and mailing the converted mailbox to yourself, or
using an IMAP connection to a .Mac account to transfer the messages.

AOL had available for download software that would convert your AOL
address book to Apple Address Book format.

I don't think so. Since Mail supports IMAP, you can always use that
as an intermediate stop. AOL uses a strange email format that is no
doubt designed to lock in users.
