Tom: I have an HP all-in-one laser printer at home that's been networked using a USB printserver. It works quite well as a networked printer. Can't say the same for the scanner/fax functions over a network, but that has more to do with HP's software than any network limitations.
I bought a reasonably cheap USB print server at CompUSA -- not sure, but I think it's a Belkin. I am able to find and set up the printer using Rendezvous in OS X.
