Hi: I created a burn folder on my desktop, following David Pogue's instructions, opened Bridge and began dragging and dropping files into the burn folder. Suddenly, I noticed that some of the files were missing from the folders from which I was dragging them. When I checked my burn folder in list view, all the files were listed as "alias". I burned a cd which seems fine. The only thing my hand touched was the mouse, not a single key. when I discovered that photos had been removed from the "film strip", it was always because when I dropped it, the thing seemed to be stuck on top of the burn folder. As soon as I noticed this, I dropped the missing folder back into its spot on the film strip. I have no idea what's going on or why. what did I do wrong?
Thanks for any help. (not moving the original) Holding the option key down while you drag a file will make a copy to anywhere you designate i.e. another folder on the same drive. (again, never moving the original) Copying the "content" of a file will put what you have copied on the "clipboard".? Example:? You have a file open within a program and you select something to "copy" so you can move it to another document. (Edit>Copy) What you have copied is stored in the "clipboard",? a glorified name for a portion of RAM where the information is temporarily stored until you copy something else.? Once you "copy" something, it overwrites the original. It is held in the clipboard (RAM) until you shut your computer down, switch user accounts,? or until you copy something else.? You can "paste" what you have copied as many times as you would like. Remember, "Cut, Copy or Paste" applies to the content of a file while you have that file open.? Copying or duplicating a file in the Finder is different altogether. I create an Alias of a document and save the Alias to an external drive then trash the original document, can I still open the Alias?
