Of course I said yes - what alternative was there?-and it burned OK. But my Power book never asked me that and I would just like to know the difference here.
Could the difference be your new wireless network? Mabye new iMac either senses remembers the Matsushita CDRW in the old PowerBook as a previous preference, and needs to ask to use its Pioneer DVDRW. I use Toast in OSX on new 1.25 DP with a Yamaha Firewire external CDRW and an internal Toshiba CDRW. Under Preferences, there is a pull down menu that shows both drives and lets me select one for reading audio CDs. There is nothing under Preferences about burning CDs. However, in the Menu Bar, under Recorder-->Recorder Info.. , there is a pull down menu that shows both CDRW drives and lets me select one for burning CDs. When the external drive is not turned on, it does not show up in either pull down menu. So if you have two drives, and one is not turned on, it is not a choice. In Toast, at least, there is no preference to select a drive that is not turned on. | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be May 27.
