The columns there alright, but that information is not included on  
the Cd's audio track so doesn't show in the BPM column. The shareware  
$29 AsktheDJ http://www.wildbits.com/askthedj/ will analyze the BPM,  
but that does not solve your problem to automatically show in the BPM  
column within the current version of iTunes. Why have the column at  
all, future functionality, dunno? ...jf
