I was surprised to learn that my OS X 10.4 universal install disk would not boot up on a recently purchased 24" iMac (Intel). The message it gave was something like "Unable to install this version on this computer." The OEM disk that came with the computer did boot and allowed me to do what I needed.
So it seems there are cases where a currently available Mac will not install the standard version of Tiger. > the confusion may be that an OEM install disk for one product will > not install on another product, ie the install disk shipping with a > imac will not install on a macbook. that ensures that you will also > have to buy the universal install for your other machine.
