I got a maxtor one touch 4 750gb last week to see if I could run vmware fusion and the converter to make a disk image and virtual machine from a physical pc and run them on our macbook core duo (running os 10.4.11).
I was doing fine--loaded fusion on the Mac, downloaded the converter on the pc, used it to create a virtual machine copy of the pc and saved it on the Maxtor (via usb). Problem occurs when I connect the maxtor to the macbook (via firewire) and the mac says it can't read the maxtor! I went to the Maxtor site and it says you can't use this drive with windows and Macs! Is this true? I have a seagate and an accommodata external that I use to backup both macs and pcs. Do I need to reformat the maxtor? Their site was very confusing about that with cautions about win 98 and os9 which do not apply in this instance. Any suggestions are as always very much appreciated.
