Bill, when you partition the drive you must make sure you set the partitions to the correct formatting scheme: GUID Partition Table for MacIntels and Apple Partition Map for Power PC Macs. MacIntels will not boot with APM and Power PC Macs will not boot wuth GUID partitions. That sounds like what you are running into. When you go to set up the partitions, click "Options..." on each one and set the partition scheme before you execute the partition.
I went and looked, and saw that I do have an Apple Partition Map being used on a PowerPC. So... I'm guessing this isn't the problem in this case. Still, this is good to know for testing, because it means I can't play around in target disk mode at work (like I had planned on), since my work machine is Intel.
