Thank you for your reply. I am looking into finding an upgrade to the Tiger 10.4. There were a lot of opportunities on eBay., but most were confusing. Prices varied all over the spectrum.

Where do we order this and how big a problem is there with an update?

Paul,

That is probably an iMac DV SE. My recommendation is to put 10.4 "Tiger" on it. It works pretty well with the g3 iMacs, especially the faster ones. I have several of those around my house. You can find out a lot about upgrading it at Low End Mac:

There is also a boat-load of links on that page to all kinds of interesting resources and articles related (sometimes quite tenuously, I'll admit) to that computer.

You can get Tiger disks quite a few places. Ebay is even a good place, if you're careful.

You can Google "Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger" to find a variety of places to look.

IIRC, Tiger came out on a DVD. If your computer does not read DVDs, Apple would for a fee and the DVD send [the original purchaser?] Tiger on CDs.

Make sure you can use what you buy.
