Since everyone is now hip on surveys, here is one by the famous  
Daniel Boone. If anyone takes the time to plot this out, they will  
soon see that Daniel was a pretty good surveyor after all,  
considering the area surveyed was probably in a virgin forest.  Of  
course, his spelling could be improved but this math was really good  
for a fellow who had no formal education. He didn't even go to grade  
school.

Surveyed for John Adkins 300 acres of Land by virtue of a Treasury  
warrant Duly Entered May the 30 1780 No 4043 Situated Lying and being  
in the county of fayette, upon the waters of Howards creek adjoining  
his former Survey of 250 acres upon Said waters begining at A the  
Corner of Sd Survey of 250 acres a black walnut running thence as  
follows vizt N 55 Et 235 poles to (B), a black walnut and sugar tree  
the corner of andrew trabels former survey of 500 acres thence S47 Et  
310 poles to C, a black walnot and sugar tree thence S 38 Wt 71 poles  
to D a black walnot and sugar tree corner to his 50 acre Military  
Survey thence S 88 Wt 185 poles to E... a black walnot thence N 14 Et  
90 poles to F, the corner of Sd adkins 250 acre Survey thence along  
the Said adkins line N 50 Wt 230 poles to the begining
