Hi David, Yes, iPhoto... sorry about that. It is a Cannon Powershot A400. The message it is giving me is: Error downloading image. iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image.
I have also gotten a message specifically saying it cannot download the JPG files. It has been pretty weird and frustrating! This is in the latest version of iPhoto.
