Another advantage to Firewire drives is Target Disk Mode, which allows
you to migrate your files to a new computer easily if you're not able
to use Migration Assistant for some reason (I was not, and Target Disk
Mode saved me).

I know there was a reason I used to pay the premium for firewire
even when I was just using the drive for backup and didn't really
"need" the extra speed...
