Anne, Do you really need the names to show for your group? I don't like the names to be available to others, someone in your group may forward to a friend so now they have the email addresses, then it is sent on again and pretty soon 3 billion people have your friends email addresses.
On my "groups", of which I have several and some of the list are large, I uncheck the box under mail Preferences, under "composing" that says: "when sending to a group, show all member addresses". By doing that when I send an email out to my "MacGroup" then only the name "MacGroup" appears in the "To Box. This won't help with the order of your names but it will eliminate the names showing at all.
