If this pops up again, you might try what I found.
I was having the same problem with my MBP internal drive not burning music CDs. 
Figured it had just worn out, but couldn't understand why I could burn some 
DVDs. Found some blogs/ forums discussing problem and many suggested the 
following:  when you get the window with the choice of burning at the maximum 
speed or slower speeds, click a slower speed. That solved my burn failures.
Thanks for your suggestion, I'm sure mine could use a good cleaning too.
