The fee's for the TIVO is for the listings that you get for the device. There is a charge from the company that TIVO get's it from. You could always get the cable unit. Though I am not in love with the GUI or functionality of cable DVR's With the TIVO I can put shows on it from my computer and well as take shows off that I want to keep.
