So, as I understand it, if you use a tune that's copyrighted by umg or umpg it
plays on my Mac because it's already flash ready but it won't play on an ios
device because it can't be converted to play on the device because of the
copyright issue.

Am I understanding this correctly?

If that's correct then how does one find out which tunes are umg/umpg
copyrighted so they aren't used in videos?

Thanks Ed.

I had this happen a couple of years ago when I did photo montages on a forum I
belong too.

And this doesn't explain why I can view it on my Mac but not on my ios devices.

It's screwy, no?

You can not use any music that has a copyright on you tube.

Is UMG. It depends on the copyright holder. So I always use copyright free
versions of songs.

As I think I have posted before my high school class had its 50th reunion in
August. Our Videographer posted 6 short videos of the reunion on Youtube.

I can watch all of them on my Mac and 5 of them on my ios devices.

The one that is not viewable on the ios devices can be found here:

   http://youtu.be/gSnlPKQ1-eI

On the ios devices it's greyed (grayed??) out and with a note that says "Not
available on this device."

When I click on it I get this message:

"This video contains content from UMG and UMPG Publishing, one or more of whom
have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."

My question is who are UMG & UMPG Publishing? Is it the music? The videographer
bought the music, "Be True to Your School" from iTunes.

One of the other videos uses the theme from the colonel bogie March and it is
not blocked. And still another uses a tune from the '60s and is not blocked.

The videographer (I've cc'd him on this email), has run into this problem on
numerous occasions. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

Please reply all so my videographer will get your responses, too.

Your help will be appreciated.

Harry
