Apple even makes one: it'd called an iPhone.

::-)

Depending on your particular plan with your provider, the addition of a simple
way to turn on a mobile hotspot in iOS 8 and certain models of the iPhone is
quite nice. I use it all the time with my iPhone 6 and it works great!

My daughter in the back seat of the car with her iPod can ask and I can turn it
on for her so she can sent a picture to her mom, or download some more on the
game she is playing.

I use it to connect my laptop when I need to use a "real" computer for
something and there is little or no wifi available. Or even if there is, LTE is
usually way faster than the sketchy wifi in most coffee shops.

I even turned off my expensive month-to-month plan on my iPad 3G because the 4G
LTE in the iPhone is sooooo much faster.

I don't need an extra MiFi; I gotta iPhone. Of course John has MiFis of
different carriers so he can always catch a signal no matter where he is, but I
bet he can reduce his device count slightly by using his phone for one of the
hot spots.
