Could be bit sniffing going on. As you are dealing with high band width stream.

If I can stream to my computer when I’m on my home network what’s to stop me from doing exactly as you say, John. So why can’t I stream to my computer from everywhere? Oh well. If there is something that I REALLY need to save then I watch it on my computer, laptop or desktop, and capture it with SnapZPro, I can’t do that with the iPad.. After arguing with a tech support person and getting nowhere I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me TiVo doesn’t support streaming to a computer outside of your home network. I said that’s not true, because I have been streaming from my TiVo at home in Kentucky to my computer here in Alabama. He got a little huffy and read me the standard official line that TiVo cannot stream to a computer off the home network. I said that’s BS because I have been doing so for 10 days. I went on to say they do have the capability because I have been doing it. He backed down and intimated (but didn’t say outright) that TiVo has that capability. I then suggested some machine or some person monitors the streaming and shut me down. When I pushed further he went on to say that the TV sources don’t allow TiVo to stream to computers off network. When I asked why they allow streaming to iPads but not computers he replied with enhanced computing capabilities one can get around copyright laws and copy programs. I gave up. That’s ridiculous. If I am at home I can download a program to my iPad and watch it whenever I want and I’m guessing transfer it to my computer. I can also watch on my computer when I am at home. So what’s to prevent me from copying programs while at home. Big brother is out there. Be careful! Before we left I purchased a TIVO Stream, connected it and my Tivo to my router with ethernet cables. For over a week I have been able to stream to my computer. Yesterday afternoon I streamed a program to my computer. I left the computer on and the went to dinner. Later that evening I was unable to stream to my computer or to my wife’s computer. I can however, stream to my iPad pro. When I try to stream to the computers I get this message: Problem playing show. We are unable to detect your TiVo streaming device from this location. If you are currently away from home, streaming video is not supported at this time. How come I can stream to my iPad but not to my computer?
