For my dear uncle's - who enjoy the disgustingly barbaric hobby of hunting.
Fortunately for our wildlife population, more damage is done to the
two-four and bottle of scotch than to the moose! - Monica :)
Such a dear, sweet, innocent girl.
It's just too bad you have never been forturnate enough to have had the
pleasure of fishing or hunting. Which by the way, is about to be
enshrined by law as a heritage of our country and culture. This land was
developed into the Country I'm so proud of, by our forefathers, who came from
many parts of the world,( eg your father) and your sweet sister in
law. People like these, endured the harshness of our winters,
the lack of transportation or roads, the insects of the summer, the crop
failures etc, (I could go on and on) to make this their home land
and our proud heritage. They grew crops, harvested wild fruit,
berries and vegetables from the wild and slowly developed the food products we
now enjoy.
Part of the process was the "necessity" of
hunting and fishing in order to obtain food to keep them from dying from
starvation. They developed methods and means of successfully
harvesting wild animals and at the same time developed rules and laws to
protect the valuable resources available to them. These laws and regulations are still in effect today and
rigidly control the harvesting of game animals for the purposes of food.
Severe penalties are imposed on anyone caught disobeying these rules.
The fact that you were able to mail us a photo of a white(albino) Moose, is
proof that the system is working. How else would you be able to show us
such a rare animal. Thanks..
The name "SPORT" has been attached to what we
now call hunting. The same has been done for figure skating. It
has been labelled a Sport" in order to include the activity in the Olympics.
The fact I don't consider it a sport is immaterial.
In any event, I am somewhat offended by your choice
of words: "disgustingly barbaric hobby of hunting". If you "really"
meant it in jest, I laugh with you. But if you believe it to be true, I
admonish you to educate yourself before you make such blatent remarks in
public. It simply shows a lack of education about our heritage and history. I
truly don't believe you want that.
