Services for Mac on 2000 Server keeps track of the "extra" Mac 
information in the resource fork.  Most people see this as the icons 
being correct.

Yes.  I think you might run into some funny differences like the icons 
being different or the names of files be cut short -- depends on the 
format you use to create the CDs (ISO9660 is one format, I forget the 
others)

This is common on large networks.  Basically it means that Macs create 
more traffic, but no one really notices.  I think you'd have to a lot of 
Macs with old network equipment to notice.  The IT guys use that as an 
excuse...

IDE channels can only chain two devices, Master and Slave.  You'll find 
most IDE cables have three connectors (motherboard, master, slave).  I 
have seen some PC motherboards add an IDE RAID channel, but I think that 
is limited in number of drives too (like 4?).
Normal PCs come with two channels.  By default, the hard drive is master 
on one, and the CDROM is the master of the other.  If you want to put 
more devices (ZIP drives count too), then you need to add a PCI ATA/IDE 
card.  However, you'll probably run out of room in the box before you 
run out of channels.
