OK, so here's the situation. OS 8.6 does not have a check box (that I could
find) to allow file sharing via TCP/IP. So I setup the iMac running OS 9.1
to share via TCP/IP and connected to it from the Duo 2300 (opposite what I
was doing with Appleshare). So now, I decided to go for it and transfer the
entire 3.9GB folder. The dialogue box reported 3 hours (so if it is right,
I roughly cut my time in half since I'm transferring twice as much data).

However, both the Linksys switch and the hub (in between the switch and the
dock) were reporting constant collisions. So I unplugged the hub and tried
again, this time it reported 4 hour transfer time (which dropped to 3 hrs
after 2 min). The problem is I'm still getting constant collisions. Any
ideas why? The cable length is about 40 feet (most of it coiled up) which
shouldn't be long enough to cause problems, right?

Per my calculations, I should be able to transfer this in about 40 minutes
at full speed. Looks like I'm getting about 20% of full speed, probably due
to the constant collisions...
