Good point. But one thing to keep in mind is that some really really
old Ethernet cards can't talk to 10/100 devices. For example the Asante
card in my Performa 630 could not connect to my Linksys router (a 10/100
switch) to share a net connection with my iMac, but when I got a 10 base
T hub, plugged that into the router, and then plugged the old computer
into that hub hub, it worked. Somehow the card was old enough that it
needed another "real" 10 base T device to talk to instead of one that
operates at both speeds. I've heard of this happening with at least one
other person. Just something to keep in mind if you have some really
old machines to hook up.

If not, the advice about a switch or faster hub is probably a good idea.
