Ahh... but did you check to make sure the AAUI to 10b-T connector itself 
is good?

I have had a few go south on me, and when they do, you usually can't get 
the Mac to switch to Ethernet (since it will think it isn't connected to 
the network).

All the ones I have had die BTW are by MacSense if that tells you 
anything (all were bought brand new, and 3 of the 5 that I bought have 
died, and one other had part of the jack break so I need to use tape to 
hold the ethernet cable in since the clip no longer has something to grab)
