VNC lets you use one computer as another computer's mouse, monitor, and keyboard over a network, be it your LAN or the internet. You can control more than one computer at once. You can control a Mac from a Wintel PC, or a Linux box from a Mac, or whatever you want. It's free. It's good. It will blow you away.
However, it won't let your Mac see the PC's hard drive. But there are other ways to do that, I've never done it so I shouldn't talk. And I'm sure someone will mention them.
