Most are for Ethernet only, to connect to a cable modem or DSL interface,
but some also have a serial port for a dial-up modem (or ISDN).  Even if you
have cable internet, the serial port is nice if the cable goes out, all your
computers can still get online through dial-up (Well, assuming you have a
dial-up ISP)
