Very interesting. I had exactly the opposite experience. I also had 
road runner, and my speeds there were comparable to yours. I'm now 
using Frontier's DSL. My max speed there was 1.7 megabit downloads. My 
wife's computer has seen speeds in excess of 2.5 megabits. My only 
complaint with the DSL is the upload speeds. RR definitely has me beat 
there. Frontier limits upload speed to 128 kbps. I had upload speeds 
around 300 kpbs with RR. So if you upload large files, go cable.
