Well, I don't know - when I think about what I want to do it sounds
like streaming audio is what I want, but that is precisely what I was
trying to find out - whether it would be worth the effort.

This is too funny. So simple and obvious that I completely overlooked
it. 

Gotta love a simple (and cheap) solution that will probably meet a
good 80%-90% of my requirements.
