I know that an AP Extreme (54bps) will drop down to the original AP speed of 11 bps if a device uses only the slower speed connects to an Extreme base station. However, is this just for that link, or are all devices forced to the slower speed? Scenario: iMac G4 with AP, AP extreme base station and G$ laptop with AP Extreme. Will the laptop still connect to the base station at 54 bps, while the IMac connects at 11 bps?

I haven't bought a base station yet but want to know if I'll be wasting my money buying an extreme version.
