G4 iMac, OS 10.3.7, AirPort Extreme Base Station, AirPort Express.

I launcehed iTunes so that I could listen to my iTunes library over the stereo. iTunes said that it was unable to locate my remote speaker (Stereo) on the network, and to verify the settings. I went to the AirPort Menu and discovered that the entire wireless network had disappeared. Repairing permissions had no effect. What could have caused this?
