MPlayer Comes to OS X

Cocoa-based OS X GUI plays QuickTime/MPEG video, more.
Klokan Petr Pridal has released a preview version of his OS X port of Unix''s MPlayer.
A Cocoa-based app with an OS X GUI front end, it''s built on AppleScript,
MPlayerOSX can supports 3ivx, DivX 3,4,5 and other codecs, and plays MPEG, VOB, AVI,
VIVO, ASF/WMV, QT/MOV, FLI files. You can also toggle between full screen and window
mode.
There are also Linux and other Unix variants which run on non-x86 hardware which
support VCD. MPlayerOSX requires you have the AppleScript frameworks installed.
Klokan, the author, also has good taste - to quote from his page:
"MacOSes are not my primary systems. I like using __Linux__, and unixes. But I think
MacOSX is now the best Desktop Operating System. People in Apple respect standards.
Perfect!"
Can''t argue with that one. Klokan also accepts donations - don''t we all? You can
download it from his homepage.
Analysis: Unfortunately, I can get it running on my Lombard. Installs and launches OK,
but generates an AppleScript error when trying to open a file. Of course, I don''t
have a supported video card (in Apple''s mind anyway). Anyone else try it?
