X bytes: Keyspan, Nikon, MacAlly deliver updates
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
May 23rd 2002
The slow progess toward X-compatiblity for peripherals continues
Keyspan has updated its Mac OS X driver for the USB to serial adapters to v1.2. This
update fixes a crash on quit under Classic and other issues.
Nikon Scan 3.1.3 offers OS X support for its line of USB and FireWire Scanners,
including LS-8000ED, LS-4000ED and LS-40ED scanners; other models are not supported.
Before installing and using this software, you should check the known issues.
IGM reader Mark Neely noted that MacAlly''s Mouse/Trackball Installer beta2.0 for OSX
is available. He reports that software "seems to work beautifully" with his
two-button, scroll-wheel mouse.
Editor''s note: Just a reminder, if beta drivers are available for your peripherals
under X, it behooves you to download and try them. If drivers don''t exist yet for
your widgets, contact the manufacturer and ask them when drivers/software will be
available.
