what 1,000 bucks will get you. And that''s nothing to be sneezed at. 

A few weeks ago, we checked out the Best PowerBooks Under 500 Bucks.We found a few 
thrifty 3400s, some Kool Kangas, a few warm Wallstreets and some Fours and Fives (that 
1400 and 5300 to you and me). Okay, enough with the alliteration already. But these 
aren''t enough? You want fast FireWire, active matrix screens and some serious RAM 
capacity. Right?
