OEM: Quanta expects iMac sales to rise

The Taiwanese manufacturer hopes to see sales improve as Apple''s 17-inch iMac begins
ships in quantity
Quanta Computer, the company that manufactures Apple''s flat panel iMacs and
PowerBooks, expects a boost from sales of the recently introduced 17-inch LCD consumer
desktop, according to Digitimes.
Last month Quanta''s sales were largely flat in part because orders for 15-inch iMac
models were cancelled or cut sharply.
Analysis: These are tough times for all computer manufacturers in part because
predicting demand is so difficult. Moreover, with so many bargains to choose from,
this is definitely a buyer''s market and flexibility in meeting their demands is very
important -- an area where Apple needs to improve.
