Apple Cuts iMac G4 Prices

Keenly-priced iMacs now close to eMac territory.
Apple today has announced price cuts to the iMac range, with the CDRW iMac LCD (15")
now retailing for $1,299 and the Combo Drive (DVD/CDRW) for $1,499.
The higher end DVD-R iMacs (15" and 17") have not had a price change. Both of the
lower-end models are available immediately at the new price.
The reduced prices each cut $100 from the previous retail price. However, as market
data for both North America, Japan and Europe indicates strong sales of the DVD-R
iMacs, the lower-end configurations are now more keenly priced, given the release of a
DVD-R eMac at $1,499. The ''Ultimate'' DVD-R iMac ($1,708) is now only priced a few
dollars lower than the $1,799 iMac DVD-R with a 15" LCD.
