Wired: EvangeList administrator jailed under misdemeanors
By Michael Flaminio, Insanely Great Mac
August 20th 2002

EvangeList admin Shane Anderson has been charged with two misdemeanors in connection
to a business deal that went bad.

Wired News is reporting on charges filed against Shane Anderson, the mailing list
administrator for the EvangeList email list. Anderson has been accused of
"unauthorized computer access and criminal mischief of the third degree" by a former
business partner, Carl Blake of Macaquarium, according to Wired.

The EvangeList mailing list grew to juggernaut proportions under Apple''s Guy Kawasaki
when he functioned as Apple''s Evangelist in the mid-90''s. Anderson later took over
the name, and more or less vision, of the mailing list after Kawasaki left Apple.

Anderson has had a somewhat checkered past among Mac Web circles. His efforts to
generate revenue from numerous ventures caused friction with many. From his mailing
list, in addition to dealings with MacMarines mailing list and a "world tour" of sorts
left many with tales of warnings from their dealings with Anderson.

According to the Wired article, Blake accused Anderson of trying to remotely break
into his computer. The computer allegedly contained the EvangeList database, which
Blake seized in May after a proposed business deal went sour.
