Latest promo: Buy a G4, get InDesign free
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
September 11th 2002
Apple, Adobe launch the mother-of-all promotions and its runs until the end of the year
Apple has posted the"Design Free" promotion, which offers a "free" copy of Adobe
InDesign 2.0 with the purchase of a new PowerMac G4
Here''s a quote of Apple''s spiel:
Buy a Power Mac G4 between September 10 and December 31, 2002, and Adobe InDesign 2.0
is yours for the asking. For creative professionals who want an integrated suite of
layout and publishing tools that runs on Mac OS X v10.2 Jaguar and like the concept
of saving up to $699 its the ultimate design solution.
The usual caveats apply -- it''s a mail-in rebate, so you''ve got to layout the cash
first; you have to buy from an authorized dealer; and you have to buy a new,
factory-sealed G4.
Analysis: The mere notion of Apple giving away InDesign conjures a host of imaginings,
including but not limited to: Is the mothership trying to make amends for poor sales
of X-compatible Adobe apps? Is Adobe trying to push a product that no one is buying?
Is this Apple''s way of telling Quark to produce or else?
Whatever the case, this is one heckuva deal at face value.
