Microsoft Releases Internet Explorer 5.1.6, 5.2.2
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac

Security and bug fixes from MS.

Microsoft has released updated versions of IE for both OS X and OS 9.

The updates incorporate fixes for recent security concerns. As with the previous OS X
version, Quartz text smoothing is supported, as well as unidentified "enhancements"
and "performance improvements".

The OS X version requires 10.1.5 or later, QuickTime 5.0.2 or later, and 20MB of disk
space.

Analysis: I haven't had the opportunity to test either version yet, but there's no
mention of whether this is a 'Jaguar compatibility' release. Either way, MS has ground
to make up. While it's the 'standard', it's arguably the worst-performing OS X browser
at present, with Chimera, Opera and iCab leagues ahead.
